July - National Month of: Baked Beans and Hot Dogs
Ingredients:
24 oz Mama Vega's Salsa,
1 (110 oz) can baked beans,
1 lb bacon,
2 large onion,
1/4 ketchup,
1/4 cup brown sugar,
1/4 t dry mustard,
1 t ground cumin
Directions:
Cut bacon into small pieces and fry in frying pan. Meanwhile chop onions. Remove bacon from pan and saute onions in the bacon drippings until translucent. Strain off excess drippings. Pour canned beans into 6 qt pot. Stir in bacon, onions, ketchup, brown sugar, mustard and cumin. Mix well.
Simmer on very low for 4 hours stirring frequently to prevent sticking and burning. Add Mama Vega's Salsa during the last hour of cooking.
